The purpose of Finance and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Enterprise Development is to oversee and manage government’s shareholding interest in public entities, and to facilitate the growth and development of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the ICT sector. The key functions are:
- Ensure the Department complies with the Public Finance Management Act;
- Oversee the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in a way that improves the capacity of the state to deliver on its mandate;
- Manage government’s shareholding interest in the SOEs in a way that supports the speedy attainment of national goals and priorities; and
- Facilitate the development of the ICT SMMEs.
