Minister of Communications to officially launch the Mama Albertina Sisulu Centenary Commemorative Stamp

The Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will, on 23 April 2019, officially launch the centenary commemorative stamp of Mama Albertina Sisulu and hand it over to the family.

In November 2018, Cabinet resolved that a Commemorative Stamp for Mama Sisulu should be issued in honour of her centenary birthday and in recognition of the significant and selfless role that she played in the country’s liberation.

Communications Deputy Minister will inspect and assess the implementation of broadcasting digital migration and rollout of internet services in the Free State: 8 to 9 Apr

Communications Deputy, Ms Pinky Kekana, will lead a two-day implementation inspection for broadcasting digital migration in the Free State Province in Thabo Mufutsanyana Distict Municipality, next week. The deputy minister’s first stop will be at Reitz on Monday the 8th of April; the following day she will be in Qwaqwa in the Free State to handover internet services at critical public institutions.

Election broadcast period and allocation of Party Election Broadcast (PEB) slots to political parties

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has finally received a list of all political parties contesting the National and Provincial Elections to be held on 08 May 2019 from the Independent Electoral Commission. The receipt of the list paves the way for allocation of Party Election Broadcast (PEB) slots to all contesting political parties in terms of the regulations.

South Africa BRICS Business Council to host a mid-term meeting: 3 to 4 Apr

The South African chapter of the BRICS Business Council will host the group’s Mid-Term meeting in Johannesburg, Montecasino’s Pivot Conference, on 3-4 April 2019.  The meeting will also mark the handing over of the rotating chair of the Council to Brazil.

The two-day meeting will be held under the theme “BRICS in Africa: Collaboration for Inclusive Growth and Shared Prosperity in the 4th Industrial Revolution”.

The Minister and Deputy Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams and Ms Pinky Kekana, will lead an inter-ministerial outreach programme in Ntabankulu, Eastern Cape on 13 April 2019.

Other government ministers including the Ministers of Basic Education, Higher Education & Training, Police and Deputy Ministers of Labour, Economic Development and Trade & Industry are expected to join the outreach.

Minister of Communications collaborates with Nokia to host a Fourth Industrial Innovation Day targeting young minds in Gauteng: 15 Mar

Minister of Communications, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has joined hands with Nokia to host a Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Innovation Day at the multinational’s corporate office park in Centurion on 15 March 2019.

The event will see government officials, young people who are beneficiaries of the TechnoGirl programme and students at the Leadership in Motion Academy (LIMA), exposed to technological innovations that improve the quality of learning, conservation, transportation and fashion; amongst others.

Minister Faith Muthambi notes judgement by Supreme Court of Appeal between Department of Communications v/s Etv

Minister of Communications Ms Faith Muthambi has noted the judgement handed down by the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein in respect of the matter between the Department of Communications v/s Etv.
The Minister will study the judgment and decide how to proceed.
